On this June’s local ballot, Proposition A will ask you an important question about the future of a very successful system. San Francisco’s garbage, recycling and composting system was first established by voter initiative in 1932, and has been twice sustained by the voters. And today, we have the most successful waste diversion program in the nation, run by San Francisco based, employee-owned Recology. 78% of our waste will never see a landfill, instead it will be recycled or made into a high quality compost used by farms and vineyards across our region. But Proposition A would risk all of the progress that we’ve made together.
